If You Could Erase One Movie from Your Memory and Watch It Again For The First Time, Which One Would It Be?

Daily writing prompt
If you could erase one movie from your memory and watch it again for the first time, which one would it be?

I’d like to say something Shakespearean or classics like It’s a Wonderful life, Casablanca or something of that ilk, but it’s not.

Any one of these 3:

Star Trek II, the Wrath Of Khan

Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back

Captain America, The Winter Soldier

  1. That’s a toughie — I’ll go with In Harm’s Way.

Good thing about bein an octogenarian is that I can watch a movie I KNOW I’ve seen at least twice but have forgotten nearly all the details. It’s almost as if seein it for the first time.

I’ve watched the entire Downton Abbey series (box set) three times now and am genuinely looking forward to startin another run when the weather turns nasty this fall . . . if I’m still around.

Know all the key points and what happens to all the main characters in the end, but I’m constantly amazed at some quip or riposte or snark that I don’t remember from the last time I watched the scene.

I’d kinda like to clear my memory of the first post-series movie and watch it as a standalone knowing only who the primary characters are and what’s at stake for the estate.

The producer/director/writing staff tried too hard to jam too much into the thing, dot every i and cross every t with just about everybody winding up happy. Didn’t work, and I’ll not watch it again knowing that.

Apparently a wide and deep call for continuation became demanding once the series ended for certain. My opinion was that it went out as a winner, no tedious messaging or self-plagiarism, no jumping the shark.

I can only imagine the outrageous cost and difficulty coming up with all those period costumes, devices, and automobiles. Still, whoever was running things could smell the tantalizing allure of profit from movies while cast members were still available to reprise the roles. Star Trek syndome, but not quite as spectacular.
