How Do You Unwind After A Demanding Day

Daily writing prompt
How do you unwind after a demanding day?

Well, since my kids are gone and I retired 15 years ago, demanding takes on a new meaning.

It’s usually a medical issue for me now as I’m going through several things that don’t get fixed overnight.

I know I harp on it a lot, but being introverted means I unwind and recharge my battery by being alone.

I read a lot of books, exercise a lot, and write constantly. I have 25 times as much in my private diary as gets posted here.

Demanding Days for me are doctor appointments or social engagements. If I can avoid those, my need to unwind is much less than it used to be.

  1. Dawg. Gotta have a dog. Garlic peanuts are good, too, with Pepsi from a bottle on cracked ice.

Coupla episodes of a favorite box set, such as Downton Abbey or BONES. Nice breeze . . . and maybe the aroma of Milady’s world-famous pork chops, or pot of chicken adobo, or a slice or two of Marco’s pizza.

Years ago I’d’a said a round of golf, but that’s no longer practical ‘cuz of an arthritic thumb and a shoulder impingement that won’t heal.

Naps are good, but these days I come outta one feelin worse than I went in . . . usually the result of a bad body position for too long.

Long shower . . . some sliced salami with colby cheese squares, Wheat Harvest crackers, and a tall glass of Cruz Sangria works well given there’s not gonna be any adobo, chops, or pizza.

On a cold winter day, grilled cheese sammidge with nice bowl of termater soup & Ritz garlic crackers. Even better, a pot roast that’s been slow cookin for ’bout 4 or 5 hours.

    And a whole lotta go’way ‘n’ leemmelone.
