I had to think about it this week. I thought about Thune, for not passing the SAVE Act, but there was a higher calling this week.

We are in the middle of the Olympics, the once every 4 years (for the Winter Olympics), and the chance to put all the bullshit aside and be proud of your country.
I grew up in the Cold War, when China, Russia, and East Germany were popping steroids like M&M’s. I was never prouder when they played the Star Spangled Banner because we won an event.
The Italians are doing well and have won a lot in the first week. As they stand on top of the podium, they sing “Il Canto degli Italiani,” which translates to “The Song of the Italians,” as do all the Italians in the audience.
I say this as we have assholes on our team that aren’t proud of our flag, don’t sing the anthem, and promote politics and being queer over winning for your country.
Let’s start with this: Olympic figure skater Amber Glenn accused the Trump administration of attacking her “human rights.”
Glenn’s sentiments came in a pre-Olympics press conference last week, where she made her case to reporters that the “queer community” is stronger than ever. Glenn posted an interview she took part in where she discussed being an “advocate for mental health and the LGBTQ+ community,” which is “making figure skating more supportive, inclusive, and open.”
Look, I’m married to a professional figure skater. I’ve known they were fags for decades. Why can’t you just skate and be an American for a couple of days?
Then, there were the freestyle skiers.
While several athletes skirted around the question of politics with diplomatic answers about representing personal values at the 2026 Winter Olympics, freestyle skiers Chris Lillis and Hunter Hess acknowledged that wearing red, white, and blue at this point in history comes with mixed emotions during a press conference.
“A lot of times, athletes are hesitant to talk about political views and how we feel about things. I feel heartbroken about what’s happening in the United States,” he said. “I’m pretty sure you’re referencing ICE and some of the protests and things like that. I think that as a country, we need to focus on respecting everybody’s rights and making sure that we’re treating our citizens as well as anybody, with love and respect.”
WTF does this have to do with trying to win a Gold medal for your country? For one day, be an American first instead of an Asshole
I’m not going to say I pulled against them, but I pulled for their teammates to win.
For this week, you are the Assholes of the week.
